Dear Seton Saints,
I am so disappointed I didn’t get to meet all of you today during Career Day. I trust that my assistant, Jamie, did a great job getting you all excited about all of your future career possibilities!
Dentistry has so many career options to offer: dentist, dental hygienist, dental assistant, expanded function dental assistant (EFDA), dental lab technician, and many office positions. Dentistry requires a wide range of skills starting with a blend of artistic and scientific talents.
There are also so many specialties to choose from: general dentistry, endodontics (root canal specialist), pediatric dentist, orthodontist, periodontist (gum specialist), prosthodontist (restoration specialist), oral surgeon, oral pathology, public health, to name a few.
Dentistry has a large focus on service to others. Dentistry helps people maintain and improve their oral health, quality of life, and appearance.
A big plus for women is the flexibility offered by the many dental careers. Dentistry allows a balance between your personal and professional life.
As a proud Seton Alum I feel honored to have been invited to Career Day. I was lucky to have formed a strong foundation at Seton for my personal and professional life. If I can be of any assistance to anyone interested in the dental profession, do not hesitate to give me a call or send an email.
Keep Smiling,
Colleen Tepe Hofstetter, D.D.S.
